Hi,
Since we live in the States, we thought we’d ring in the long “Labor Day” weekend (that’s the national holiday where everyone drinks beer, grills burgers, and online shops, for those of you who don’t know), by dropping some stuff for you, old and new…
…Like these Pop Aliens in the Land of Samba! Twenty years ago, when some little- known record exec named David Byrne (along with Brazilian Beco Dranoff) first compiled World Psychedelic Classics 1: Everything Is Possible! The Best of Os Mutantes, the idea of doing a psychedelic album from outside the U.S. or Europe was pretty much unheard of. That retrospective single-handedly brought Os Mutantes to the states — and it’s the reason their influence on psychedelic and pop culture has in the years since become too great to quantify.
In a rare impulse to give the fans what they want, we’ve made some of these new gatefold LPs in a limited colored vinyl: Mutant Orange, of course — keep your eyes “peeled” for that. 🍊 But for those of you who prefer the simple stuff in life, you can pre-order the black vinyl version, too.
We’ll also be sharing some new merch [gasp!] that we made this summer with our friends at Arches, a sustainable production company based in Portugal — including some cozy sweats to protect you from the imminent autumnal weather…
Remember, everything is possible.
Love,
Luaka Bop
